The Australian Red Cross Blood Services fitout project consisted of a 100 year old four level heritage listed building that has been fully refurbished into offices, laboratories and support spaces including all the services that has now become the Melbourne Processing Centre for the Blood Service.
The services within the building consisted of typical infrastructure consistent with a facility of this nature. The elements that set this apart were several environmental initiatives within the Electrical system that included dimming and sensor controls of the lighting throughout the facility as well as the ability for the facility to operate in an "island" mode for a period of four days.
The electrical component on the project was significant and involved particular coordination between all the services trades due to their intensive nature. The main challenges included the extremely tight programme and the difficulty with working In an existing structure with minimal flexibility in terms of services routes and access requirements.
Nuvo Solutions provided Cockram Construction with excellent support and on many occasions provided solutions and cost saving alternatives to design problems that were encountered during the course of the project. They worked successfully to coordinate their works with the 45+ other trades and demonstrated a professional and proactive approach at all times. They were able to liaise with the consultants and the client successfully to deliver a project that was on time and on budget.
Cockram Construction had on numerous occasions received very positive feedback from the Blood Service regarding Nuvo Solutions performance and service. As the Head Contractor, Cockram Construction could not recommend Nuvo Solutions highly enough.
We look forward to working with Nuvo Solutions on future projects.
